What if I don’t qualify for NHS treatment?

What if I don’t qualify for NHS treatment?

If your child does not qualify for orthodontic treatment or you want to explore other treatment options for them, we are pleased to offer private treatment. Having treatment privately means you can start treatment almost immediately and will have access to our full range of braces including Damon Clear and Invisalign.

The process starts with a free consultation with one of our specialist orthodontists who will undertake a thorough examination and discuss with you the best treatment options. You will be shown the different types of braces and will have all your questions answered. You may opt for traditional braces, our most cost-effective option, or look at a brace which is almost invisible such as Damon Clear or Invisalign.

Once you have decided on which brace you would like, we will see your child again for a records appointment where accurate measurements and photographs will be taken to allow us to plan the treatment. A set of impressions will be taken and these, along with an X-Ray will also be used in the treatment planning process.

We know how keen patients are to start treatment so we won’t keep you waiting and will schedule an appointment for your child’s brace to be fitted at a time that is suitable for you and them. If you have decided on Invisalign, there is an additional step where, upon receipt of your impressions, they produce an animation of all the tooth movements during treatment, this is called a ‘clin-check’, and will be used to ensure you are happy with the treatment plan before the aligners are manufactured.

Is private teen treatment expensive?

With prices starting from just £1960* for our traditional range of braces and generous payment instalment plans, we think orthodontic treatment is more affordable than it has ever been. Orthodontic treatment is an investment in the long term oral health of your child not to mention the confidence a great smile gives at a time when they developing into young adults and getting ready for further education or entering employment.

Will they still need to see their dentist during orthodontic treatment?

Yes, it’s important that they continue to visit their dentist regularly during orthodontic treatment. Although we will keep a close eye on their overall oral health throughout treatment, your own dentist will work closely with us ensuring their teeth remain healthy throughout treatment and long after their braces have been removed.

What about retainers?

At the end of treatment, it is important that your child wears their retainers or all the hard work will be undone. Braces move the teeth into the ideal position but retainers are used to keep them there! Without retainers, teeth can start to move back, this is called relapse, so wearing retainers after treatment is important if they want to keep their amazing new smile. The cost of retainers is included in the treatment fee so that’s one less thing to have to worry about.

How do we get started?

Just give us a call, use the enquiry form or visit the practice to arrange a free consultation. We look forward to welcoming you and getting your child on their way to having an incredible smile.
